2005 Activities

Fursan Al Oud in France 13th to 16th May 2005

Following a kind invitation from the French Institute and encouragement from the Ministry of Information, a group from Fursan Al Oud took part in the 19th Belfore Music Festival, France from 13th  to 16th May 2005. The festival takes place annually where many music students and bands from around the world participate. The group played for three nights in different cities.

 

Institute’s  Students’ Concerts 25th and 26th of May 2005

The Institute held two concerts on the evenings of  25th and 26th May 2005 in which the students displayed their musical capabilities on various musical instruments in the presence of their parents and friends. The evenings were concluded with three fantasy pieces by Schumann, played by two of the institute’s teachers, Elizabeth Trauter on the clarinet and accompanied by Rumiana Borisova on piano.

 

ABRSM Examinations April 2005

Thirty three students sat for their practical examinations in April this year. The British examiner was amazed by the managerial organization of the examinations and commended the Institute’s efforts in preparing the students for these exams in which all passed – some with distinction.

 

French Cultural Institute Concert May, 2005

A group of the Institute’s students and teachers took part in the annual concert organized by the French Cultural Institute in the second half of May in the Institute Theatre in Isa Town. The group, Fursan Al Oud, participated with Amina Matar, Shaima Al Uraifi, Ashbal Al Aud, Mohammad Rashid Najem, Hussam Isa Rashid, Tahani Murbati under the supervision of the oud teacher, Saad Mahmood Jawad, from Iraq. The guitar group also took part in the concert with Naseem Mohammad Jaffar, Samar Abdulqader, Amina Mahmood Meamari, Saja Suroor, Etienne Bonnassieux, Kavin Sykes, under the supervision of Bahraini guitar teacher Abdulwahab Mohammad.

 

Bahrain TV Program

Thirteen BMI students individually took part in a television program prepared and presented by Yousif Mohammed of Bahrain TV called “ARTISTIC STATIONS” in which each of the students gave a performance on his specialty instruments in addition to an interview in which they talked about how their interest in music began.

 

Bahrain Disabled Sport Federation (BDSF) 30th July 2005

With the co-operation of the BDSF the BMI organized a concert on Saturday evening 30th July 2005 for 40 disabled children. A number of teachers and students took part in this concert giving different recitals on various instruments.

 

Youngsters Attend Violin Workshop 3rd August 2005

Bahrain Music Institute hosted a free violin workshop with international violinist and pianist, Dr. Samy Ibrahim on 3rd August 2005. The workshop, attended by young students, was part of the Institute’s special music educational program.

 

Workshop for Violin given by Cesar Velev 18th November 2005

This was held with the co-operation of the French Embassy by the French master, Cesar Velev from the French conservatoire.

 

Arab Children Forum 2nd of December 2005

Held under the patronage of Sh. Mohamad Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the son of the crown prince and the commander in chief of the BDF.

Ashbal Al Oud for His Majesty the King Heritage Festival 19th to 25th April 2005

Ashbal Al Oud of BMI had the honor to perform at the Heritage Festival in front of His Majesty the King when the festival was opened and inspected by His Majesty.
